Robert R. Seher

Age: 88 of Haddonfield

On February 10, 2024, formerly of Ventnor, NJ; beloved husband of 60 years of Marizita “Zita” T. (nee Hall); loving father of Jennifer Seher (Mark Gempler) of Keene, NH and Julie (Robert) Bickel of Haddonfield, NJ; treasured PopPop of Caroline Bickel, Maya Gempler, Madeline Bickel, Georgia Gempler & Brynn Bickel. Cherished brother of Chris Seher (Alrene) of Absecon, NJ and predeceased by brothers Fred (Joan), William (Kathy) and Richard (Ella May). Dear brother-in-law of John (Diane) Hall and the late William (Mary) Hall.  Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and his dog, Milo.

Son of the late Fred G. & Minnie H. (Purcell) Seher, Bob was raised in Ventnor, NJ, by his parents and his beloved aunts and uncles (Wuzzy and Russ Colman, Betty and Dick Muits, and Louise and Charles Callan) as one of the thirteen Purcell cousins. His father immigrated from Stuttgart, Germany via Ellis Island in his late teens.  Bob was very proud to have been born and raised in Ventnor, NJ.  He played basketball for the Peter S. Previti’s Independent Basketball Team in Atlantic City and went on to become captain and point guard for the Drexel Dragon’s basketball team.

He graduated from Atlantic City HS in 1953 and continued his studies at Drexel University (ROTC), where he earned his electrical engineering degree.

After graduation, he proudly served as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army. He began his career at RCA, where he met his beloved wife. He then began working for ITE, which was acquired by Gould, which later sold their SPD Technologies unit to him and his management colleagues in a private buyout. Bob retired as Vice President of Operations for the company, which is now owned by L3.

Bob was an avid golfer and greatly enjoyed weekly pinochle games with his cousins. He liked making home movies of family events and spending time at the beach with his family. He enjoyed a good cigar (often) and adored being a PopPop. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He loved his family, most of all.

Bob’s family will receive family & friends on Friday, February 16th, 10-10:45 AM, at Christ the King RC Church, 200 Windsor Ave., Haddonfield, NJ; where his Funeral Mass will follow at 11 AM., Interment, Locustwood Mem. Park, Cherry Hill, NJ.  Memorial contributions in honor of Bob may be made to the American Heart Association or the Voorhees Animal Orphanage.
