Jean E. Schroeder
(nee Pearl) On April 12, 2023, one week shy of her 104th birthday; Devoted wife of the late Ernest; Cherished mother of Julia (Robert) Frederick and Linda (the late William, Jr.) Doherty; Dear grandmother of Natalie Doherty; Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Jean was a teacher for over 30 years. She began her teaching career in Pine Hill, took a break to raise her children, then eased back in as a substitute teacher; before becoming a full-time 5th grade teacher in Gibbsboro for 15 years, retiring in 1984. She was a longtime active member of the Lutheran Church of our Savior where she sang in the choir. She loved listening to classical music and to her daughters sing. Jean was an avid Phillies fan from the Whiz Kids era, loved to watch golf on television, volunteered for Interfaith Caregivers, was an avid bridge player and a member of the Haddonfield Y’s Menettes. Additionally, Jean loved to spend time at the shore, especially sitting at the end of the Music Pier in Ocean City and watching the ocean.
Jean’s family will receive friends on Sunday, April 30, 2023 from 1-1:45pm at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 204 Wayne Ave. Haddonfield, NJ 08033 where her memorial service will follow at 2pm. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jean’s name may be made to the Church at the above address.
