Dr. Anthony C. Ruggerio
Dr. Anthony C. Ruggerio, age 93, a longtime resident of Haddonfield, New Jersey, passed away peacefully in his home on January 17, 2021. Anthony was the beloved husband of Concettina (“Connie”) DiRocco Ruggerio, who predeceased him in 2018, father of Dr. Mark A. Ruggerio (Dr. Vanessa A. Morenzi), Bonnie J. Guistwhite, Cynthia Ruggerio (John S. Anooshian), and grandfather of Constance A. Guistwhite and Lara M. Ruggerio. He grew up in Hammonton and later Camden, NJ, with his parents, Nicholas and Mamie Ruggerio and brother, Russell B. Ruggerio.
Dr. Ruggerio, a periodontist, practiced in Haddonfield for over 40 years and was extraordinarily dedicated to the care of his patients. He was an Assistant Professor of Periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine for many years and is published in the field. Dr. Ruggerio served in the U.S. Navy at the close of WWII and attended college through the GI Bill prior to dental and post-doctoral school. Anthony, also known as “Tony” to many of his friends, was an avid music lover of everything from opera to Sinatra to the Beatles and a gifted saxophone and clarinet player. After playing in big bands in his youth, he enjoyed being part of the Haddonfield Pick Up band and marching down Kings Highway on the 4th of July. He was also a fearless skier, dog lover, and lifelong Eagles fan.
Above all, Dr. Ruggerio cherished his wife of over 60 years, Connie, and was a loving father and grandfather.
The family is having a private graveside service on the morning of Thursday, January 21st.
