Michael W. Fessler

passed away peacefully on January 19, 2021.  Survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Jacqueline (nee Seibert); dedicated father of Mickelle Cabrera (Christopher), Jacqueline Sevening (Greg) and the late Michael Fessler; Cherished grandfather of Mickaelyn Meany (Mason); Saylor and Brielle Cook; Grant, Ireland and Scout Sevening; treasured great grandfather of Carson Meany; Dearest brother of Christine Gallagher (Jack), W. Steven Fessler (Sally), Colleen Corey (Christopher) and Charlene Fessler.  Predeceased in death by his parents William and Irene Fessler.

Born in 1949 in Reading, PA, Michael was a dedicated businessman, loyal friend, and lifelong mentor to all with whom he shared time.  He graduated from Haddonfield High School in 1966 (NJ), and Athens State College (AL) with a B.S. Degree in Business in 1970.  Michael had a long and storied career in the beverage industry.  In his early years he held various managerial positions at Frostie Enterprises before purchasing Stewart’s Rootbeer.  As President, Michael’s gargantuan personality and savvy business acumen built Stewart’s Rootbeer with his father sage council into a successful National Brand, established countless Stewart’s Restaurants across the East Coast, and gave us the Legendary Stewart’s Rootbeer enjoyed by all. He was always “In the game”. He loved his country and served as an Honorary Commander of the 6th Airlift Squadron “Bully Beef” (USAF) for 3 years.

In his free time, his warm and caring soul never missed an opportunity to have a conversation and develop sincere relationships with his family, his friends, a waiter, or stranger.  He was an avid hunter and sharpest of shooters; passionate about the game of golf and even more about the 18 holes of friendly banter and laughter; Master of dining out; and philanthropist to countless of those in need. With his arm lovingly around his son, they raise a glass of scotch with infinite bubbles, and watch over all of us until we meet again.

Dr. Anthony C. Ruggerio

Dr. Anthony C. Ruggerio, age 93, a longtime resident of Haddonfield, New Jersey, passed away peacefully in his home on January 17, 2021.  Anthony was the beloved husband of Concettina (“Connie”) DiRocco Ruggerio, who predeceased him in 2018, father of Dr. Mark A. Ruggerio (Dr. Vanessa A. Morenzi), Bonnie J. Guistwhite, Cynthia Ruggerio (John S. Anooshian), and grandfather of Constance A. Guistwhite and Lara M. Ruggerio.  He grew up in Hammonton and later Camden, NJ, with his parents, Nicholas and Mamie Ruggerio and brother, Russell B. Ruggerio.

Dr. Ruggerio, a periodontist, practiced in Haddonfield for over 40 years and was extraordinarily dedicated to the care of his patients. He was an Assistant Professor of Periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine for many years and is published in the field. Dr. Ruggerio served in the U.S. Navy at the close of WWII and attended college through the GI Bill prior to dental and post-doctoral school. Anthony, also known as “Tony” to many of his friends, was an avid music lover of everything from opera to Sinatra to the Beatles and a gifted saxophone and clarinet player. After playing in big bands in his youth, he enjoyed being part of the Haddonfield Pick Up band and marching down Kings Highway on the 4^th of July. He was also a fearless skier, dog lover, and lifelong Eagles fan.

Above all, Dr. Ruggerio cherished his wife of over 60 years, Connie, and was a loving father and grandfather.

The family is having a private graveside service on the morning of Thursday, January 21st.

John P. Hammette

On Jan. 10, 2021, age 80 of Collingswood, NJ, formerly of University Park, MD; Beloved husband of Lynne (nee Weaver); Loving father of Laurie Hammette; Dear brother of Robert (sister-in-law Virginia) and Cherished Uncle of Lynne Dann & Bob Hammette.

John was a devoted family man, a loving husband for 48 years and a wonderful father to the daughter that he was so proud of. He was a former small business owner and real estate agent, and was actively involved in his community during his years in University Park. John was a true friend to animals. He worried about the neighborhood stray cats, and two he used to feed, his adored Miss. Pip and Mr. Henry, are now living a life of luxury in our home. A former high school athlete in both Madison (a town he loved) and Ocean City NJ, John was an avid golfer who sorely missed the game when he was no longer able to play. His face would light up as he recounted numerous tales about golfing with his dear friends. He was a devoted follower of the rock group The Band and of all things Peyton Manning. He had a great sense of humor and would often say when he returned home from an outing “They thought I was funny.” John loved our family vacations, especially the trips to England and Ireland. He was a defender of the underdog and hated injustice of any kind, often saying “A man who is right is a majority of one”. He was a kind and tender hearted man who will be greatly missed.

Paul J. Kinzel

On January 9, 2021, Paul passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at his home in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.  He was 53 years old.

He was a devoted and loving father of Samuel Grayson Kinzel age 8.  Sam was his life.  He spent all his free time building rockets, racing cars, playing outdoors, play games, reading with him and homeschooling.

Paul loved the ocean and outdoors. He loved going to the beach, swimming, waterskiing, snow skiing, mountain biking and tinkering with cars. He enjoyed watching sports and he cheered for his local teams.

Paul was an outreach advocate for AA and a source of support for many recovering members. He was very generous providing help for family and friends in need and assisted in anyway possible.  He was instrumental in helping his younger sister in getting her degree by caring for his nephew while she went to night school. He also, was a great support for our family by helping with our Grandmother with Dementia. He supported his older sister while she was going through a divorce.  And he often helped his mother in Connecticut.  He called her every day.

Paul was a member of Steam fitter’s Local 420 since 1995.  He loved his work and those he worked with.

He was survived by his son Samuel G. Kinzel, mother Marilyn B. Kinzel, his sisters Valerie Ashton and Susan Bonertz, several nieces and nephews, including grandniece and nephews.

Carol A. Cahill

(nee Lunn), 81 of Town Bank, NJ, passed away January 11, 2021 at the Court House Center Nursing Home.  Carol was born in 1939 in Gallitzin, PA.  She was predeceased by her parents George and Mary Lunn and her brothers, Jack and Tom.  Carol is survived by her husband of 59 years, Frank R. Cahill; a son, Richard Cahill and his wife Sandy of Glendora, NJ, a daughter Claudine Kimberly Camardo and her husband Mark of Stratford, NJ, and a son, Keith Cahill and his wife Jackie of Bridgewater, NJ.    She also had six wonderful grandchildren:  Nicole & Tyler Cahill, Jake & Jason Camardo, and Alyssa & Ryan Cahill; a nephew Scott Lunn and his wife Karyn of Cinnaminson, NJ.

Carol graduated with honors from Gettysburg College with a degree in Biology while playing three sports.  Before being affected by Alzheimer’s, she was active in youth sports in Stratford.  She taught Biology and General Science at Triton and Haddon Twp. High Schools.  She was active in the Haddonfield United Methodist Women, served as a Church Trustee, and taught Sunday School at the Haddonfield United Methodist Church.  Carol loved the Cape May area and was happy to live there and spend time on the beach before she became ill.

Carol’s family will greet friends on Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, 10-10:45 AM at Haddonfield United Methodist Church, 29 Warwick Rd., Haddonfield, NJ; where her Memorial Service will follow at 11 AM.  Interment private.  Masks and social distancing are required at all times.   In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Carol may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Haddonfield United Methodist Church, The Tabernacle United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.

CHARLES DICKSON TROMBOLD, JR

Charles, lovingly known as “Beav”,  earned his BA from Univ. of AZ in Archaeology and was a member of Delta Tau Delta. Being an Archaeologist was his greatest joy in life and he had the opportunity to pursue this passion while working with the Univ. of Mexico as a professor and independent contractor.

William W. Reynolds, Jr.

On Jan. 4, 2021, age 81 of The Evergreens in Moorestown, formerly a longtime Haddonfield resident, husband of the late Mollie (nee Hartman); Beloved father of William W. III (Rena) of Fort Myers, Florida, James M. (Joy) of Collingswood, NJ and Rebecca Reynolds of Highland Park, NJ; Loving grandfather of Isaac, Henry, Graham and Emilia and Dear brother of Ned and Jack (Monique) Reynolds.

Above all, Bill was a man deeply committed to his family and his community.  Son of a longtime superintendent of Haddonfield’s public schools, he graduated from Haddonfield Memorial High School in 1957 and Lafayette College in 1961.  He went on to earn a Masters from Harvard University and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Pennsylvania.  After completing his studies and working as an administrative assistant dean at the Graduate School of Education at Penn, he became the principal of the Bancroft School in Haddonfield.  During that time, he was elected to the Haddonfield Borough Commission and served as mayor from 1973 to 1977 – a victory which he attributed to people confusing him with his father (with whom he shared the same name).  He unsuccessfully ran for county freeholder in 1978, at which point his political career ended after his wife told him that he could keep an elected office or her, but not both.  He made the right choice.

Bill went on to found Reynolds and Schaffer Associates, a consulting firm that provided marketing, fundraising and strategic planning services to nonprofit corporations.  In 1997, he left the consulting business and became the founding director of the Center for Management and Entrepreneurship at Rutgers University School of Business in Camden where he served until his retirement in 2010.  In 2006/7 he was asked to serve as interim dean of the Rutgers Camden School of Business while the university searched for a permanent successor.

Outside of work and politics, Bill served the Haddonfield community and greater South Jersey in myriad ways.  He was a lifelong Rotarian and taught the men’s bible class at Haddonfield United Methodist Church for more than 20 years.  He spent 43 years on the board of the Haddonfield Public Library, 28 years as president.  In 1983 he and a few other like-minded citizens founded the Haddonfield Foundation, and he served as its president from 1983 until 2003 and as a board member until 2010.  For many years he served as the moderator of the annual Town Meeting hosted by the Haddonfield Civic Association.  Bill also served significant stints on the boards of the Camden County YMCA, Respond, Inc., the Evergreens retirement community in Moorestown and more recently, on the national board of ACTS Retirement Life Communities.

A gentle and patient father, he was never short on advice when asked, but never imposed his opinion (or will) on his children, even in their most wayward moments.  As his kids grew into adults, he and Mollie liked nothing better than staying up late over drinks to hear of their latest adventures and exploits, perhaps learning more than they wished but accepting all news with grace and equanimity.

When Bill retired in 2010, it was to care for his beloved wife, Mollie, who was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.  It was in this period of his life that his commitment to service became most manifest, as he lovingly tended to Mollie’s needs through her death in 2019.  Affectionately known by his grandchildren as “Granther”, he was perhaps happiest watching his grandchildren on the baseball diamond, the soccer field, the basketball court and the dance stage.  He was also an avid fisherman who stalked the beaches of New Jersey, most often in the company of his close friend and first cousin, George Trotman.

Bill’s family will receive friends on July 16, 2021, 10 to 10:45 AM in the Sanctuary of the Haddonfield United Methodist Church, 29 Warwick Rd., Haddonfield, NJ; where his Memorial Service will follow at 11 AM. Joseph P. Verga

On Jan. 3, 2021 at Brandywine Living in Haddonfield, age 89.

Beloved husband for 55 years of Georgia (nee Basile); Loving father of Tracy Noone (Matthew) of Haddonfield, NJ, Joseph C. Verga (Miriam) and Toni Deis (Matthew) both of Westfield, NJ; Cherished grandfather of Sean & Kyle Noone, Tessa, Ruby, Alessandra & Elizabeth Verga and Daniella & Nicholas Deis.

Joe was born June 13, 1931, in Jersey City, the son of the late Peter and Rose (Briguglio) and raised alongside his 6 older brothers and sisters. He proudly served in the U.S. Army before becoming a power engineer with Western Electric/NJ Bell/Lucent Technologies/Verizon for 40 years. He raised his family in Nutley, and lived there for over 30 years before retiring to Renaissance at Manchester in Manchester, NJ where he enjoyed playing golf, bowling and playing on the Renaissance Rebels softball team.

Joe was kind, humble, dependable and fun; he enjoyed dancing and he and Georgia always impressed on the dance floor together; he loved Frank Sinatra; he was a lifelong fan of the NY Giants and Yankees; but most of all, he loved his family and let them know in so many ways.

Joe’s family and friends are invited to his Memorial Mass on Friday, January 8^, 2021  at 10:15 AM at St. Helen R.C. Church, 1600 Rahway Ave, Westfield, NJ 07090. Norma J. Maslowski

(nee Everist) on December 30, 2020; Of Haddonfield, NJ & Naples, FL. Beloved wife of Stanley G. Maslowski; Loving mother of the late Diane Marie Maslowski, Susan J. Maslowski of Haddonfield, Michael S. Maslowski of Redondo, CA & Steven (Jodi) Maslowski of Haddonfield; Treasured Grandmother of Caden & Avonlea; Dear Sister of Donald Everist of Virginia.

In 1968 Norma founded Jay West Bridal Shop in Haddonfield, NJ; where she spent her days helping brides prepare for their ‘big day’.  She was a long-time member of Tavistock Country Club as well as a member of the Naples Yacht Club.  Norma will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A Viewing for Norma will be held on Saturday, January 9^th, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM., at Christ the King R.C. Church, 200 Windsor Ave., Haddonfield, NJ 08033; where her Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Blackwood NJ. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations in Norma’s name may be made to the Haddonfield Public Library for the upkeep and beautification of the grounds.
