Charles, lovingly known as “Beav”,  earned his BA from Univ. of AZ in Archaeology and was a member of Delta Tau Delta. Being an Archaeologist was his greatest joy in life and he had the opportunity to pursue this passion while working with the Univ. of Mexico as a professor and independent contractor.

William W. Reynolds, Jr.

On Jan. 4, 2021, age 81 of The Evergreens in Moorestown, formerly a longtime Haddonfield resident, husband of the late Mollie (nee Hartman); Beloved father of William W. III (Rena) of Fort Myers, Florida, James M. (Joy) of Collingswood, NJ and Rebecca Reynolds of Highland Park, NJ; Loving grandfather of Isaac, Henry, Graham and Emilia and Dear brother of Ned and Jack (Monique) Reynolds.

Above all, Bill was a man deeply committed to his family and his community.  Son of a longtime superintendent of Haddonfield’s public schools, he graduated from Haddonfield Memorial High School in 1957 and Lafayette College in 1961.  He went on to earn a Masters from Harvard University and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Pennsylvania.  After completing his studies and working as an administrative assistant dean at the Graduate School of Education at Penn, he became the principal of the Bancroft School in Haddonfield.  During that time, he was elected to the Haddonfield Borough Commission and served as mayor from 1973 to 1977 – a victory which he attributed to people confusing him with his father (with whom he shared the same name).  He unsuccessfully ran for county freeholder in 1978, at which point his political career ended after his wife told him that he could keep an elected office or her, but not both.  He made the right choice.

Bill went on to found Reynolds and Schaffer Associates, a consulting firm that provided marketing, fundraising and strategic planning services to nonprofit corporations.  In 1997, he left the consulting business and became the founding director of the Center for Management and Entrepreneurship at Rutgers University School of Business in Camden where he served until his retirement in 2010.  In 2006/7 he was asked to serve as interim dean of the Rutgers Camden School of Business while the university searched for a permanent successor.

Outside of work and politics, Bill served the Haddonfield community and greater South Jersey in myriad ways.  He was a lifelong Rotarian and taught the men’s bible class at Haddonfield United Methodist Church for more than 20 years.  He spent 43 years on the board of the Haddonfield Public Library, 28 years as president.  In 1983 he and a few other like-minded citizens founded the Haddonfield Foundation, and he served as its president from 1983 until 2003 and as a board member until 2010.  For many years he served as the moderator of the annual Town Meeting hosted by the Haddonfield Civic Association.  Bill also served significant stints on the boards of the Camden County YMCA, Respond, Inc., the Evergreens retirement community in Moorestown and more recently, on the national board of ACTS Retirement Life Communities.

A gentle and patient father, he was never short on advice when asked, but never imposed his opinion (or will) on his children, even in their most wayward moments.  As his kids grew into adults, he and Mollie liked nothing better than staying up late over drinks to hear of their latest adventures and exploits, perhaps learning more than they wished but accepting all news with grace and equanimity.

When Bill retired in 2010, it was to care for his beloved wife, Mollie, who was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.  It was in this period of his life that his commitment to service became most manifest, as he lovingly tended to Mollie’s needs through her death in 2019.  Affectionately known by his grandchildren as “Granther”, he was perhaps happiest watching his grandchildren on the baseball diamond, the soccer field, the basketball court and the dance stage.  He was also an avid fisherman who stalked the beaches of New Jersey, most often in the company of his close friend and first cousin, George Trotman.

Bill’s family will receive friends on July 16, 2021, 10 to 10:45 AM in the Sanctuary of the Haddonfield United Methodist Church, 29 Warwick Rd., Haddonfield, NJ; where his Memorial Service will follow at 11 AM. Joseph P. Verga

On Jan. 3, 2021 at Brandywine Living in Haddonfield, age 89.

Beloved husband for 55 years of Georgia (nee Basile); Loving father of Tracy Noone (Matthew) of Haddonfield, NJ, Joseph C. Verga (Miriam) and Toni Deis (Matthew) both of Westfield, NJ; Cherished grandfather of Sean & Kyle Noone, Tessa, Ruby, Alessandra & Elizabeth Verga and Daniella & Nicholas Deis.

Joe was born June 13, 1931, in Jersey City, the son of the late Peter and Rose (Briguglio) and raised alongside his 6 older brothers and sisters. He proudly served in the U.S. Army before becoming a power engineer with Western Electric/NJ Bell/Lucent Technologies/Verizon for 40 years. He raised his family in Nutley, and lived there for over 30 years before retiring to Renaissance at Manchester in Manchester, NJ where he enjoyed playing golf, bowling and playing on the Renaissance Rebels softball team.

Joe was kind, humble, dependable and fun; he enjoyed dancing and he and Georgia always impressed on the dance floor together; he loved Frank Sinatra; he was a lifelong fan of the NY Giants and Yankees; but most of all, he loved his family and let them know in so many ways.

Joe’s family and friends are invited to his Memorial Mass on Friday, January 8^, 2021  at 10:15 AM at St. Helen R.C. Church, 1600 Rahway Ave, Westfield, NJ 07090. Norma J. Maslowski

(nee Everist) on December 30, 2020; Of Haddonfield, NJ & Naples, FL. Beloved wife of Stanley G. Maslowski; Loving mother of the late Diane Marie Maslowski, Susan J. Maslowski of Haddonfield, Michael S. Maslowski of Redondo, CA & Steven (Jodi) Maslowski of Haddonfield; Treasured Grandmother of Caden & Avonlea; Dear Sister of Donald Everist of Virginia.

In 1968 Norma founded Jay West Bridal Shop in Haddonfield, NJ; where she spent her days helping brides prepare for their ‘big day’.  She was a long-time member of Tavistock Country Club as well as a member of the Naples Yacht Club.  Norma will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A Viewing for Norma will be held on Saturday, January 9^th, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM., at Christ the King R.C. Maureen Gariano

(nee Ferguson) On December 30, 2020; Age 93; Of Haddonfield, NJ. Beloved wife of the late Joseph V.; Loving mother of John Joseph (Jean) of Cedar Grove, NJ, Joseph Vincent, Jr. of Rivervale, NJ, AnnJane Sullivan (Peter) of Audubon and Patricia Gariano (David Kuhn) of Cape May; Treasured grandmother of 7: Kristin & Alex Gariano, Sean, Eamon & P.J. Sullivan, Logan Zaszewski & Gavin Kuhn; Great-grandmother of Seraphina; Dear sister of Vincent Ferguson of Ireland. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family in the U.S., Ireland and Germany.

Maureen was born in Ireland where her heart always remained even with her great love of America and the life she built there. Maureen was an avid gardener and bird watcher.  She enjoyed spending time praying the rosary and reading poetry in her garden.  Maureen’s most treasured times were those spent with her children and grandchildren, especially vacationing together in Cape May. Maureen will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Mary E. McMahon

(nee Fisher) On Dec. 30, 2020, Age 101, longtime Haddonfield resident, wife of the late Thomas P., Sr.; Beloved mother of Thomas P., Jr., M.D. (Mary Ann); Loving grandmother of Michael Ph.D. (Sheila), Mary Ann McMahon, M.D. (Anthony Mirabile), William Ph.D. (Eng-Hui Yap), Jeffrey Ph.D. (Lisa), Matthew Ph.D. (Michelle Preston), Timothy M.D. and the late Daniel; Treasured great grandmother “G.G.” of 12 and Dear sister of Julia Murray of PA.

Mary was a longtime member of Christ the King R.C. Church, actively involved in the Prayer Shawl group and their Bowling league.  Additionally, she was a longtime volunteer at the Haddonfield Library.

Cecilia L. Sarajian

(nee Lane) On December 25, 2020; Age 68; of Gloucester Township, NJ; Dedicated wife to Michael Mullen; Devoted mother to Summer Sarajian-Davis (Evan); Mom-Mom to Chase and Allie; Aunt CiCi to all her nieces and nephews; sister to Frank Lane and Laurie Pehrson. Second “Mom” to so many.

“For the holy message of Christmas is that heaven’s gates stand open for us.” After a long & courageous battle with cancer Celia is able to rest in peace.

Celia’s nature of caretaking is seen in many areas of her life.  She began a long career spanning over 40 years, from nurse manager at Cooper Medical Center to founder of Neighborhood Nannies in Haddonfield, NJ.

As a doting mother & Mom Mom, Celia relished the role and title. She needed no training for it, it came naturally. Celia had been a source of love and advice for so many over the years. Her door was always open, her phone was always answered.  Celia wanted the best for all who crossed her path. And all who crossed her path, left with a hug.

Joseph R. Filinuk, Sr.

Joseph R. Filinuk, Sr., long time resident of both Collingswood and Ocean City New Jersey, died on December 24, 2020, at the age of 74. He grew up in Camden, New Jersey, and attended LaSalle College High School and LaSalle University. After graduation, he taught high school English and coached football and tennis at Sterling High School, then ultimately retired from teaching in 2002 from Haddonfield High School.

Mr. Filinuk, as he was known by his thousands of students, will be remembered not only for his strong personality but his true love of the English language. He spent his lifetime sharing his passion for English by devoting his life to education. He had high expectations and challenged his classes daily to unleash their potential. At the time, his students may not have understood his motives, but his passion and guidance ultimately resulted in each one exceeding their own individual expectations. His gruff and often intimidating exterior hid a generous and caring heart, which would appear when you needed it most.

Outside of school, Joe, as he was known to his friends, had a passion for books and music, amassing a collection of both that could rival the library of Congress. Before he retired, he would spend summers in Ocean City, splitting his time between the beach, biking on the boards, and Atlantic Books. When he worked at the bookstore, Joe’s recommendations were well renowned to Ocean City vacationers and residents alike who were searching for something to read on the beach. When not working or enjoying a book and a drink on the beach, he was an avid gardener and his flowers were always a sight to see in the back of his Ocean City house.

After retiring, he became a full-time resident of Ocean City and realized his dream of living at the shore with the love of his life, Patricia.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Patricia (nee Kane); 4 children: Geoffrey, Meredith Sawyer (Bill), Joseph Jr, (Susan), and Gregory (Justina). He is also survived by six grandchildren: Abigail Sawyer, Jackson Filinuk, Rory Filinuk, Emma Sawyer, Kyle Filinuk & Brooke Filinuk. Services are private, but in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Angelic Health Hospice Care or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Suzanne F. Felten

(nee Ford) On December 6, 2020; Age 77; of Vero Beach, FL; Beloved wife of John Felten; Loving sister of Lynette Selgrath, Steven Ford, Lance Ford, Keith Ford, Carolyn Ford, and Karen Gorman; Dear aunt of Dianna and Dorothy Marie Selgrath.  Suzanne will also be deeply missed by her many friends and acquaintances in Philadelphia, Maine, and Vero Beach.

Suzanne was born in Philadelphia in February 1943 and was raised by her mother and father in Philadelphia and Gradyville, PA.  Suzanne graduated with honors from Penn Crest High School, Class of 1965.  She was the captain of the cheerleading squad and continued her “fame” as a cheerleader throughout her life.  Suzanne met John at a USO Ball in Philadelphia. It was love at first sight for John, and while it took a little longer, he became the love of her life as well.  Suzanne and John were married for 52 wonderful years and she now returns to the place of their marriage; where John will join her someday.  Suzanne will be remembered for her love of life, sense of humor, and especially her loquaciousness.
