Alice Janet Birdsall

Age 96 of Haddonfield, NJ

(Nee Hall) On April 3, 2022; Age 96; lifelong Haddonfield resident; Beloved wife of the late Robert Birdsall, Sr.  Survived by her children Robert, Jr. (Gretchen) of Moorestown, Katherine Alessi (Tom) of Little Egg Harbor and Edward (Peggy) of Toms River; four grandchildren Robert III, Stephen, Abigail and Michael; and eight great grandchildren.

Born in 1925, Janet was a 1942 graduate of Moorestown Friends School, where she played basketball, field hockey, tennis and was a member of the Glee Club.  She attended Emerson College in Boston, MA.  Janet served in the AWVS of PA as a volunteer in Pennsylvania Hospital, and was employed at H.A.T. (Helicopter Air Transport) at the old Camden Airport which inaugurated the air mail service from 30th Street Station to Airport in Sikorsky and Bell helicopters. Janet had a keen interest in the family business, Fessenden Hall of Pennsauken, which started in 1890 and is thriving today under the sixth generation.  She was very involved in community affairs and was a member of many organizations including:  Junior Auxiliary and Maternity Auxiliary of Cooper Hospital, Tavistock Country Club and golf team member 1957-2004, and John Estaugh Chapter of Questers International.  Janet volunteered with Interfaith Caregivers and was a past board member of the Ronald McDonald House of South Jersey.

Patricia M. Bantivoglio

Age 94 of Haddonfield & Delray Beach

(nee Parker) On March 31, 2022; Age 94; of Haddonfield and Delray Beach; Beloved wife of the late Thomas N. Bantivoglio, Esq.; Devoted mother of Christine Czech (Grover), Joy Bantivoglio, Judy Bantivoglio Dwornik (Gordon Gottlieb) and Bobbie Turner (Jonathan); Cherished grandmother of Laura, Julia, Ginevra, Jason and James.

Pat was a beautiful and vivacious person who enjoyed socializing and having fun. Her marriage to Tom was a love story of 69 years. She was an avid reader and member of several book clubs. She loved the beach in New Jersey and Florida and the views of the waterway from their Delray Beach condo. Pat relished her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother, and most of all, loved spending time with her family! Pat will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.

Valerie Spinanger

Age 79 of Haddonfield, NJ

(nee Urbanowitz) On December 29, 2021; Age 79; of Haddonfield, NJ died peacefully with family around her. Valerie was the beloved wife of the late Thomas (Tom).  She is survived by her daughter Victoria Spinanger (Andrew Holtsbery) of Syracuse, NY; her grandson  Thomas Holtsbery; dear sister of Kathryn Keller and brother Theodore (Gladys) Urbanowitz; nieces Claire Keller (Eric Whitaker) and Julia Keller (Leora Zimmer); grand-nieces and nephews Helia, Heath, Shira, and Jonah; and her special feline companions Mr. Mephistopheles and Obadiah.

Valerie was born in Elizabeth, NJ to Theodore and Emma Urbanowitz.  Valerie grew up in Union, NJ where she and her husband Tom became childhood sweethearts.  They would later marry in 1965.  Valerie graduated from Trenton State College in Science Education. She was the first in her family to graduate from college.  Valerie then went on to Seton Hall University to become the second woman to earn a master’s degree in biology from that educational institution.  Valerie and Tom moved to the greater Southern New Jersey.  Valerie was a science teacher in Stratford School district.  She and Tom bought their house in Haddonfield in 1969.

Valerie continued to do bed-side tutoring in science and mathematics when her daughter was young.  She later went on to pursue a veterinary degree at the University of Pennsylvania.  She overcame ageism by graduating in 1989 at the age of 46.  She was employed at several veterinary practices in the area.  Valerie continued to do tutoring for the Haddonfield School district.  She also was an adjunct professor in Anatomy and Physiology and Introductory Biology at Camden County Community College.

Valerie enjoyed traveling with her husband and her sister.  They particularly enjoyed going to the British Isles, Scandinavia, and the Wintertur Museum in Delaware.  Valerie and her husband explored Vienna several times.  Valerie enjoyed going to the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Opera, and traveling to the Skaneatlas Festival near where her daughter lives in Syracuse.  Valerie enjoyed going to art museums.  She enjoyed going with friends to the Neue Gallerie in New York City.  Valerie also enjoyed spending time with friends at her house on the Delaware River in Upper Black Eddy.  Valerie enjoyed sharing her love of biology with her grandson.  She enjoyed taking him to the aquarium, the natural history museum, and the zoo.  Valerie was an avid reader and was active in many book clubs in the area.  Valerie always had cats in her life.  They were spoiled rotten and destroyed most of the furniture.  She was pre-deceased by many of them.  Recently, Valerie was a social butterfly.  She was a regular at the local coffee shop, was a fixture at many dinner parties, and a constant in many movie-watching events.  Friends have commented that they will miss her very much.

Fredrick W. Clauss, Sr.

Age 78; of Cherry Hill, NJ

On March 21, 2022; Age 78; of Cherry Hill, NJ; Beloved husband of the late Tina Clauss; Devoted father of Amy (Paul) Gazaleh and Rick (Danielle) Clauss, Jr; Cherished grandfather of Katharine, Mary, Julia and Ricky; Dear brother of Karl Clauss.

Fred proudly served as a Sergeant in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. After his Service, he earned a Bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University- Camden. Fred had a 40+ year career at Bayard-Prete Candy Co. in Pennsauken, retiring as VP of Production. Fred was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, but could be found watching and enjoying any kind of athletic event. He loved to fish, feed the birds, do crosswords, and garden. Fred had a quiet and subtle sense of humor and was a trusted human to every dog he met. His most treasured times were those spent with family and his grandchildren. Fred will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Michael Francis Falciani

Age 82; of Haddonfield

On March 16, 2022; age 82; of Haddonfield; Beloved husband of the late Patricia (nee Dobush); Devoted father of Michael (Etelka “Etus”) Falciani of Houston, TX, Christina (Leo) Impagliazzo and Matthew (Karynna Baresel) Falciani both of Haddonfield; Cherished grandfather of Sophia, Gia & Michael Falciani, Billy & Sarah Impagliazzo and Grace Falciani; Dear brother of James (Pam) Falciani.

 

Michael, a long-time Haddonfield resident, started his career in construction, later worked at the Census Bureau, and Cornerstone Bank in Moorestown, NJ. He was a member of the Lion’s Club.  Michael and his brother, Jimmy, enjoyed singing together, made a few recordings in NY and performed on The Ted Mack Amateur Hour as The Cappy Brothers. Some of his fondest memories were time spent with family in Key West. Michael will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Donald M. Sabia

Age 89; long-time Haddonfield resident

On February 27, 2022; Age 89; of Haddonfield, NJ; Beloved husband of Nancy (nee Martin); Devoted father of Wendy (the late Gerald) Browne of Cherry Hill, Susan (Mark) Jones of Haddonfield, and William (Michelle) Sabia of Haddonfield; Cherished grandfather of Jeffrey, Stephanie, Jackie, Nicholas, Katie, Matthew, Brian, Mary, William and Peter;  Great-grandfather of Emerson, Tyler, Lola, and Theo.

Don, a 1955 graduate of Villanova and long-time Haddonfield resident,  enjoyed a 40+ year career as a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch, retiring as a Sr. VP.  He was a member of the Haddonfield Tennis Club and enjoyed skiing.  Don was an avid reader, a passionate Villanova Basketball fan, collector of anything antique, and loved going to estate sales with his friend Bob. Don will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Joan M. Manning

Age 80 of Delanco, NJ formerly of Haddonfield, NJ

(nee Migliore) On February 18, 2022; Age 80; of Delanco, NJ; formerly of  Haddonfield; Devoted mother of Jennifer Knodle of Denver, CO, Nicole (Todd) McCabe of Blue Bell, PA and Peter Manning of ID; Cherished grandmother of Sierra & David Knodle, Alexa & Reagan McCabe, and Hudson & Mackenzie Manning; Joan is survived by her devoted friend and former husband Michael Manning as well as many nieces and nephews; Joan is predeceased by her sisters Linda McDowell & Susan VanZandt, and niece Cynthia VanZandt.

Joan was a long-time resident of Haddonfield and enjoyed a successful 30 career as a realtor with Prudential Fox Roach.  Joan had a passion for cooking, reading and decorating.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Sharon L. Reagan

Age 62 of Washington Twp., NJ

On February 20, 2022; Age 62; of Washington Twp., NJ; Cherished mother of Brendan Reagan; Beloved daughter of Dolores and the late Edward James Reagan; Dear sister of Edward (Joan), Ronald (Betty), Kevin, Timothy (Lisa) and Brian Reagan (Megan).

Sharon graduated from TCNJ in 81 with a BSN in nursing. Sharon was a registered nurse and worked private care duty for much of her career.  She was an avid skier and member of the SJ Ski Club.  Sharon loved art and attended Fleisher Art Memorial School in Philadelphia. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Tina F. Clauss

Age 74 of Cherry Hill ~ formerly of Haddonfield

(nee Fleming) On February 19, 2022, Age 74, of Cherry Hill, NJ, Formerly of Haddonfield.  Beloved wife of Fredrick W. Clauss, Sr.; Devoted mother of Amy (Paul) Gazaleh and Ricky  (Danielle) Clauss, Jr.; Cherished Mom-Mom of Katharine, Mary, Julia and Ricky; Sister of Lynda Dillon and Joseph “Jay” (Karen) Fleming.

Tina graduated from Haddonfield Memorial HS, Class of 1965.  She retired from Carusi Middle School in Cherry Hill.  Tina was an avid gardener, bird watcher, book club member and loved going to the beach.  She fiercely loved her family, and the greatest joys of her life were her grandchildren.  She was their biggest fan; she loved learning about anything and everything related to their interests, and kept in touch with daily Tweets, texts, and visits.  She loved birthdays, discovering new foods, Motown music, the Rolling Stones, and chardonnay. Tina had a great sense of humor and her enthusiasm for both the big and small things in life was contagious.

Tina will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Virginia L. Potts

Age 92 of Marlton ~ Formerly of Haddonfield

(nee Lovell) On February 17, 2022; Age 92; of Marlton formerly of Haddonfield; Wife of the late David Beaman Potts, Sr; Loving mother of David, Jr. (Cindy), Barbara, and William (Rebecca); grandmother of Tammy, Jennifer, Robert, Erin, Joseph, Thomas, Lauren and three great-grandchildren. Dearest sister, Barbara (Martin) Antisdale.

Gini attended Baypath Jr. College in Longmeadow, MA.  She worked as a Medical Secretary for over 30 years for many area doctors and at the Cancer Center in Voorhees, NJ.  Gini was on the Shade Tree Commission in Haddonfield for ten years and was a dedicated volunteer for Interfaith Caregivers.  Gini’s family will be forever grateful to those who helped her during the last few years of her life, especially Kum, Mirvine, Kelly and Karla.  Gini resided at Brightview Greentree for many years and her family thanks the wonderful community of residents and staff who made her feel at home.
