On December 27th, 2022, Elwood, known to all as Woody, passed away and went home to be with the Lord. He was pre-deceased by his father Elwood B. Mills Jr. and his mother Nancy Macdonald Mills.
Woody spent most of his life in Haddonfield and then later lived in Cherry Hill. A graduate of Haddonfield Memorial High School (1971), he later received his BA degree from Mount St. Mary’s University. Woody worked in several endeavors but found a true calling in his profession as a CNA at Silver Health Care where he was helpful to so many others. As a member of Living Faith Christian Center, Woody enjoyed serving in many capacities and was a member of the men’s group, nursing, and prison ministries. His kindness endeared him to his close friends and all those he encountered. Woody enjoyed reading, swimming, working out at the gym, and fishing at the Jersey shore. He eagerly followed the Philadelphia Eagles games and always loved a good Italian meal.
He leaves behind several beloved cousins and his Living Faith church family.
Woody’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 10th at 9:30 am at Living Faith Christian Center, 2323 Route 73, Pennsauken Township where his memorial service will immediately follow at 10 am. Interment private.
Martha Thomas
Age 90 of Lindenwold; Formerly of Runnemede
(nee Guenette) On Dec. 30, 2022, age 90, wife of the late Kenneth C.; Loving mother of Susan Dilks (the late Kenny); devoted aunt of numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews and great great nieces & nephews.
Martha was a lifetime member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Runnemede; where she was a member of the Senior Handbell Choir for over 40 years. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Haddonfield Chapter 140, but most importantly, she was a devoted wife and mother.
Martha’s family and friends are invited to her Viewings on Wednesday, Jan. 4th, 6:30-8:30 PM, and Thursday, Jan. 5th, 9:30-10:30 AM, both at Kain-Murphy Funeral Services, 15 West End Ave., Haddonfield, NJ 08033. Irmalee H. Pierson
Age: 96 of Burlington, NJ
(nee Halliburton) passed peacefully on December 15, 2022. Irmalee was born in Unionville, MO, and was the only daughter of James and Hazel (Peek) Halliburton who owned a farm near Lemons, MO. Irmalee was affectionately known as ‘Nonnie’ by our family. She was loved by her daughter Marilyn Pierson (deceased 2014); grandson Christopher Pierson (Jennifer) and her cherished great-granddaughters Julia and Carolyn. Of course, we can’t forget about Charlie, our family dog.
Irmalee married Finis Pierson (deceased 1972) in 1946. They were stationed at various Navy ports of call, including Kwajalein, a tiny atoll in the Pacific. After settling in Norfolk, VA, Irmalee worked as a teacher for 30 years at the Town and Country Day School, sometimes instructing three grades simultaneously in the same classroom. Later in life, she was a docent at two historical museums, the Moses Myers House and Willoughby-Baylor House. In her free time, Irmalee was an excellent cook who knew that following the recipe was sometimes optional. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing and reading. Most of all, she absolutely loved being surrounded by her small family.
Funeral services for Irmalee will be held privately by the family. Please keep her memory in your thoughts and prayers.
Diana Douglass Ergood
Age: 80 of Cherry Hill, NJ
(nee Douglass) passed peacefully surrounded by her family, on December 19, 2022. Diana married her high school sweetheart Foster C. Ergood and became his devoted wife of 58 years; cherished mother of Laura (Charlie) Ergood Brown, Esq., Douglass F. (Danielle) Ergood & Tara (Jack) Butz; adoring grandmother of Devyn, Blair, Shane, Joseph, Douglass, Jr., Julia, Tyler and Brooke; dear sister of Judy (Keith) Everett, and sister-in-law of R. Laurence (Barbara) Ergood. Diana will also be missed dearly by numerous nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt D.
Early on in her life she was an executive secretary at Campbell Soup Company and later in life she worked as a medical assistant. Diana was an avid traveler, music lover, Jitterbugger, KESC & Cherry Hill West Swim Mom, Jazz Unlimited Dance Mom, and overall devoted sports mom and grandmom, beautiful party planner, and fabulous cook and hostess as she loved entertaining.
Diana was a one-of-a-kind, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her Christian faith was the foundation for the love that she showered upon her family and all those with whom she came in contact. She had the unique ability to make people feel truly special and left a lasting impression on their hearts. She genuinely was the light of the world and God’s perfect child.

Jane H. Connor
Age: 95 of Cherry Hill Formerly of Haddonfield
(nee Hall) on December 13, 2022. Devoted wife of the late Richard “Dick” E. Connor, cherished mother of Richard “Rick” E. Connor, Jr (Janice) and John “Jack” M. Connor; adoring grandmother of Richard, Mark, Paul, Timothy, and Darren Connor; great grandmother of Alyssa, Shelby, Shane, Lochlan, and Lillian Jane Connor; dear aunt of Janet Sage (nee Hall), Cindy Cordova (nee Hall), Bonnie Hall, and the late Laurie Hall; sister of the late John “Jack” and the late James “Jim” Hall.
Jane and Dick met at HMHS, married following his service in the US Navy during WWII, and they were inseparable throughout their 60 years of marriage. Jane graduatedfrom Haddonfield Memorial High School (’44) and from Trenton State College (’48) with a teaching degree. She taught full time at Merchantville High School while husband Dick completed his post war education at Pennsylvania Military College. When their two boys were older, she returned to teaching as a frequent substitute in the Collingswood and Haddon Township school systems. Jane was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Haddonfield for 83 years where she served on various committees and participated in weekly Bible studies. She loved our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, and lived her life as a testimony to Him. Jane enjoyed spending time with her friends from church, Haddonfield, and the Cadbury retirement community and was devoted to serving on the communion committee at her church for many years. Her favorite pastime was getting together with family on holidays, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joseph C. Giordano
Age: 89 of Cherry Hill, Formerly of Haddonfield
Passed away on December 10, 2022. Joseph was the cherished father of Stacy and Joseph Giordano; adoring brother of Dolores Prokapus, Roberta Costigan, Cecelia Burger, Theresa (Dave) Lawrence, Elizabeth (Roger) McKinnon.
Joseph graduated from Mt. Saint Mary’s High School and Rutgers University. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked his way up in the family business and eventually became the president before starting his own construction company. After retirement, he was one of the “Romeo Boys” that met at PJ’s in Haddonfield every Saturday. His family was his greatest joy and he loved spending time with family and friends.

Major General Michael David Strong III, M.D.
Major General Michael David Strong III, M.D. surrounded by his family, passed away on December 6, 2022.
Michael grew up in Silva, NC. Always brilliant, he excelled at St. Andrew School for Boys in Sawanee, TN. Michael attended the University of Pennsylvania and was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa. Michael then attended Jefferson University Medical School.
After college, Michael served in the Vietnam War. It was there he was awarded the Silver Star for valor in 1968. Michael served in the military for 29 years. Rising to the rank of Major General, and was highest ranking medical officer in Operation Desert Storm.
Dr. Strong was a renowned Cardio Thoracic Surgeon. He was also the inventor of medical devices. Michael honed his medical skills on the battlefields of Vietnam and brought that hard won knowledge back to his adopted home of Philadelphia. A highly regarded CT surgeon at Hahnemann University Hospital where he performed over 1000 open heart surgeries, Dr. Strong is credited with teaching many of the top CT surgeons throughout the country that continue his legacy into the future.
Michael enjoyed spending time with his family, especially in Avalon. He was a member of the Avalon Yacht Club. He loved watching his adoring grandchildren play by the pool and always had time for an Avalon Freezer. On holiday mornings, he would make his special apple cinnamon pancakes.
Michael was a long-time member of the Union League of Philadelphia, where he enjoyed fine wine, great food, and wonderful friends. It was at the Union League, he would often spend quality time with his wife, Maryann. He was also a member of the Riverton Country Club. Michael was known to be fond of golfing, Corvettes and the opera. He was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
Hippocrates said “where the art of medicine is loved, there is also a love of humanity.” This is never truer than with Dr. Strong. He cared for all of his patients. Michael lived a long and impressive life surrounded by family and friends; however, he also should be remembered for the centuries of time he gave other people and their families.
Precedent in death by his father Michael, mother Pearl and brother Jimmy. His wife Maryann was the love of his life. Also survived by daughters Danielle (Pete Gabriele), Rachel (Michael Hutchinson), Laura (Justin Weathers) and sons Matthew (Victoria Nestore), John Strong (Jennifer), Michael D Strong IV. Proud grandfather of 13, Luke, Marianne, Vivienne, Penelope, Scarlett, Eloise, Abigail, Anna, Jack, Sadie, William, Vivienne, Alexandra.
Dr. Strong’s Family will receive friends on Tuesday, Dec. 13th, 9-10:45 AM, at Christ the King RC Church 200 Windsor Ave., Haddonfield, NJ; where his Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM. Irene M. Adams
Age 75 ~ lifelong Barrington Resident
On Dec.3, 2022, age 75, of Barrington, NJ; Beloved daughter of the late Raymond & Margaret Adams. Survived by her loving best friend Madeline Buntz and dear cousins: Linda Bruce, John Overpeck (Jeanie) and Charlotte Bruce.
Irene was born and raised in Barrington, NJ. After her mother, passed she was close with her father and especially proud of his founding the Ambulance Squad and his years volunteering. Irene spent over forty years in the Banking industry before retiring from Wells Fargo in Philadelphia. She was a good hearted, gracious lady and will be dearly missed by friends and family.

Raymond F. Talbot
Age: 71 of Williamstown, NJ
Passed away on November 12, 2022. Raymond was the devoted husband of the late Virginia (nee Ryan); loving father of Casey Talbot; dear brother of Celeste (Jim) Happersett and Libby (Dan) Payne; loving uncle of Lauren McCaughin, Leigh Fuller and Chris Ryan; brother-in-law of Don (Lynne) Ryan, and the late Leslie and Gordon Ryan.
Born in Queens, Ray was a life-long NY Giants fan, an artist, a proud Navy vet, and a fisherman. He loved to fish any chance he got, whether that be on the shores of Nauset Beach in Cape Cod, MA, or by the lake in his backyard in Williamstown.
