Kathryn Ingram Allen

(nee Ingram) On February 15, 2022; Age 77; of Haddonfield, NJ. Beloved wife of Bruce Allen; devoted mother of Christopher B. (Jennifer) Allen of San Marino, CA and Kathryn Allen (Wesley) Moore of West Springfield, VA; cherished grandmother of Will, Dylan M., Dylan A., Bode and Emma; dear sister of Stephen (Janet) Ingram of Waynesboro, VA, Mary (Fred) Bruner of Richmond, VA, Ann (Peter) Popovich of Broad Run, VA, Dorothy (Bob) Nicholson of St. Simons Island, GA; loving aunt of 10 nieces and nephews.

Kathryn earned her Bachelor’s Degree from William & Mary and then worked as an aide for 2 Congressmen in Washington, DC. She enjoyed living in the lovely town of Haddonfield, but her greatest joy in life was caring for her family.  She was a constant support of her children’s scouting programs, whether they needed a scout leader, a driver, an arts-and-craft project or a baker. She created costumes for school plays, Halloween and neighborhood parades. Her generous gift of time to the church choir, her children’s schools, as a caretaker to elderly friends, or as the “extra pair of hands” when a new baby was born in the family leave us with memories that will last lifetimes.

Kathryn had a talent for finding the perfect gift to delight a grandchild, sibling, niece, nephew or neighbor, and her cookies were delivered to college campuses far and wide as her children and their friends scattered throughout the country. She will be remembered for the many kindnesses she bestowed,  from offering to babysit for a new mom or inviting a lonely friend to dinner. Kathryn’s gift for giving will be deeply missed.

Kathryn was a member of the Christ the King choir and the Art Goes to School program.  She was an avid reader of mysteries,  a lover of British crime drama, and an enthusiast of Broadway musical scores.  Her delight in traveling the world and experiencing unique cultures had included visits to India, Brazil, Australia, Switzerland, Prince Edward Island and many other destinations. Her talents as the family historian included the memories of these adventures. Kathryn was a wife, a mother, a sister, an aunt, a grandmother, a godmother and a friend who was cherished by all who loved her.

Kathryn’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held for family only, on Monday, February 21.
