Patricia A. Candee

Longtime Haddonfield resident

Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on February 18th, 2024. She grew up in Burlington, New Jersey and graduated from Burlington City High School (Class of ‘65) and then from Salem College in West Virginia (Class of ’69) which is where she met her husband, Bill. They raised their three children in Haddonfield, New Jersey. For 25 years, Patricia taught 8th grade Language Arts at Haddon Heights High School. She taught creatively and with humor, and was able to connect with her students in a truly special way. She received the 1994 Governor’s Teaching Recognition Award for the Haddon Heights High School and was invited to Princeton University for the Governor’s Convocation on Teaching Excellence.

Patricia was an avid reader, cook, and baker. Her ‘monkey bread’ was legendary. She also loved to sew. After retiring from teaching, Patricia opened an Etsy shop named ‘Giggles & Toots’ where she showcased her incredible sewing skills. She sold nearly 1,000 personalized pillows, and her unique designs even caught the eye of Simplicity, a sewing pattern company, that purchased several of her patterns. But nothing brought her more pleasure than making pillows and many other special creations for her seven adoring grandchildren.

Patricia’s happy place was Surf City in Long Beach Island, NJ. She grew up spending summers in LBI with her Aunt Margie. Later, she, Bill and their children would build their dream home in the lot next to her aunt’s home. That house, filled with her children and grandchildren, brought Patricia so much joy and happiness. Summer bucket lists were always fulfilled, and countless memories of family dinners, bake-offs and dance parties were created that will never be forgotten.

Patricia is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, William E. Candee; daughter Kendra C. Damiecki (Scott) of Darnestown, MD; son William T. Candee (Emily) of New Canaan, CT; and daughter Lori C. Bush (Jamie) of Washington, DC. She was the beloved Noni of Layla & Hadley Damiecki; Cole, Amelia & Gray Candee; and Harper & Addison Bush.  Patricia was the matriarch of the family, was so loved by all that knew her, and will be greatly missed.

Patricia’s family will receive friends & relatives on Thursday evening, Feb. 29th, 6-8 pm at Kain-Murphy Funeral Services, 15 West End Ave., Haddonfield, NJ 08033 and again on Friday morning, March 1st from 10-10:45 am at the First Presbyterian Church of Haddonfield 20 Kings Hwy.
