John H. Heppe

Age 80 of Cherry Hill, NJ

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Henry Heppe, who peacefully left this world on Saturday, January 18th at the age of 80. A devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather, cherished friend, and steadfast Christian, John’s life was a testament to generosity, kindness, and his deep gratitude for God’s many blessings.

Born in South Jersey, John grew up surrounded by love and respect, and his character reflected the values instilled in him from a young age. He graduated from Collingswood High School and Rutgers University, then went on to build a successful career as President of Scarborough Corporation in New Jersey. He and his business partner, Scott Beatty, founded and built the successful homebuilding business Haddon Group in Northern Virginia, where they worked together for 16 years. Yet, it was his relationships with family and friends that truly defined him.

John’s passion for life was evident in the many treasured friendships he formed throughout his years. Whether on the golf course, sharing laughter and stories, or lending a sympathetic ear, he was known for his generosity of time and his ability to make everyone feel heard and valued. A good listener, John’s insightful advice and warm presence were a constant source of support to all who knew him. His caring nature extended far beyond his friendships. As a devoted family man, John was a loving husband to his wife Diane, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage. Together, they raised Kimberly and Paula, instilling in them the same values of love, faith, and kindness. His granddaughters, Madeline and Margaret, were a particular joy to him, and he reveled in the time spent with them, creating memories that will be cherished forever. John’s Christian faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding him in all that he did. His belief in God and his commitment to living a life of service and compassion touched everyone around him. Whether through his quiet acts of kindness or his larger acts of giving, John’s faith was always evident.

John is survived by his beloved wife Diane, oldest daughter Kimberly and husband Kendall and granddaughters Madeline and Margaret, youngest daughter Paula and husband Jason, and younger sister Bonnie Heppe Fisher (Glen) and nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, who will continue to carry his memory in their hearts. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Your laughter, your love, and your faith will remain in our hearts forever. Rest in peace, John, Dad, Pop, Uncle John, we love you.

John’s family will receive friends and relatives Saturday, January 25th, 9 to 10 am at Solid Rock Baptist Church, 420 South White Horse Pike, Berlin, NJ 08009. A service to honor John’s life will follow at 10 am. Interment at Locustwood Cemetery.
