John William Camp III

Riverton, NJ ~ Age 84

John passed away on November 14, 2025.  He was the devoted husband of Ruth (nee Henkel), cherished father of Heather Lacy, Heidi (Pete) Smith, Greg (Paula) Camp, and Josh (Nanci) Camp.  Adoring grandfather of Samantha (Geoff) Roche, Eric Lacy, Sarah (Brandon) Weaver, Jaccob Camp, Libby Camp, Alex Camp, Abby Camp, and Mason Camp and cherished great-grandfather of Liam and Ian Roche.  Loving brother of Jacquelyn Rees.

Born in 1941 in Philadelphia, PA, John was the son of the late Jack and Gladys Camp.  He grew up in the West Oak Lane neighborhood with his many aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends. As a Germantown High School student, John met the love of his life, Ruthie, at age 16, and they were happily married for 64 years.

Known as John or Bill to his family and friends, he spent many years furthering his education at night attending both the Philadelphia College of Textile and Sciences and Temple University while working as a Process Engineer.  John went on to become a successful business owner of WEI, Inc. located in both Barrington and Glassboro, NJ.  John and Ruth lived in many states during their married lives before settling with their four children in Haddonfield, NJ.  He was involved in many of his children’s sports including coaching soccer and officiating AAU and Tri-County swim meets.

The Camp family was never without multiple pets, and John especially loved walking his dogs.  Spending time by the water was another favorite activity, and he created many special memories with his children and grandchildren at the beach and on the Ocean City boardwalk.  Another cherished place of John’s was Tavistock Hills Swim Club where many wonderful summers were spent with other THSC families who became close friends.  John will also be remembered for his kindness in helping and mentoring others.

Services will be held privately by the family.  In lieu of flowers, charitable donations in John’s name may be made to the Voorhees Animal Orphanage (www.vaonj.org)  and the Food Bank of South Jersey (www.foodbanksj.org).
