James R. Knapp
On November 2, 2021, Jim Knapp, age 88, of Medford Leas and longtime resident of Haddonfield, passed away.
He was a Beloved Husband to Elizabeth Knapp, nee King, a Loving Father to Deborah and the late Paul Knapp, father in law of Joseph Realdine and a Cherished Grandfather to Lindsey, James Joseph “JJ”, Michael and Jayne.
Jim was raised in Upper Darby, and he went on to serve in the US Army during peaceful times. He then attended Drexel and Columbia Universities.
His career included working as cost analyst for NASA in Bethesda MD and RCA and GE in Moorestown NJ. And for the next many years he devoted his time to his growing family.
When the kids were grown Liz and Jim hosted students from around the world and traveled themselves with Elder Hostel (49 trips).
Jim’s engineer spirit continued to search out and solve problems on a more domestic level. He developed his talents as a handy man. Always taking his time and getting the job done right.
At Medford Leas, Jim developed a variety of wood carving skill. He created a large body of fish and bird art. He also became a beloved member of the Medford Leas Workshop, continuing to repair and often restore all types of objects, all the while providing caring service.
The world has lost a wise and gentle man.
