Hilda L. Gillerlain
(nee Churchfield) Died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 10, 2024; wife of the late Dr. Joesph A. Gillerlain; cherished mother of Joseph (Sherri) Gillerlain, John Gillerlain, Johannah (Bryan) Dent and the late Timothy (Theresa) Gillerlain; adoring grandmother of Jeffrey Dent, TaraJo Gillerlain, Brady (Yvonne) Gillerlain and Jennifer Dent and treasured great grandmother of Josef Gillerlain.
Born in Wall, PA, Hilda proudly served her country in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1945. It was in October of 1944, during her time in Charleston, SC, that she met Dr. Gillerlain, the love of her life, as they both served in the Navy. The couple exchanged vows on July 2, 1949, and enjoyed a blissful marriage for 75 years until Dr. Gillerlain’s passing in 2023.
Initially working as a nurse alongside her husband at his practice in Haddonfield, Hilda later transitioned to focus on their growing family in 1955. Beyond her nursing career, Hilda was known for her passion for stitching. In 1980, she proudly opened her own needlepoint store in Haddonfield, named Flicka’s Needlepoint, and was also a member of The Royal School of Needlework in England.
Described as kind, thoughtful, and loving by all who knew her, Hilda leaves behind a legacy of warmth and generosity. Her loss will be deeply felt by her family and friends, who will cherish the memories of her love and care.
Hilda’s family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, July 1st from 10:30-11 AM, at Kain-Murphy Funeral Services 15 West End Ave. Haddonfield, N; where her Funeral Service will follow at 11 AM. Interment private.
