Henry Robert Melzi

Age 72 of Southampton, formerly of Haddonfield, NJ

Henry Robert Melzi, age 72, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 9, 2022. Henry was born and raised in Bala Cynwyd, PA to the late Robert and Marie Melzi, and had resided in Calabash, NC and Haddonfield, NJ before his current residence of over 5 years, Southampton, NJ. Henry was a 1968 graduate of Lower Merion High School, and a 1972 graduate of Widener University. Henry also received a master’s degree from Villanova University, and a master’s degree from the American College of Education. Henry relished in his work as an educator and enjoyed his work with young people not only as a teacher but as a coach and mentor.

A spiritual person, Henry always had a positive outlook and believed in the goodness of man. He enjoyed the beautiful things in life: art, music, his times at the beach, cooking, sports and above all else, Henry loved spending time and laughing with his family and friends.

Henry is survived by his beloved wife of 11 years, Linda Melzi (nee Chamberlin); children, Anthony Melzi (Laurie), Stephanie Melzi, and Gabrielle Melzi (Cody Krstonich); stepchildren, Matthew Shampine (Claudia), Nicholas Shampine (Amanda), and Kelsey Glenn (Christopher); grandchildren, Sophia, Henry, and Luke; step-grandchildren, Ara, Liam, Hayden, and Cameron. Henry is also survived by his sister Marie Kenis (Michael) as well as niece Lauri and nephews, Andy (Rachel), Justin (Jenna), and Robbie (Kristen); and his beloved dog, Gracie. Henry is predeceased by his brother, Jimmy Melzi.

Henry loved and is loved by many. He is sincerely missed and will be remembered as one of the better people who walked this earth.

Henry’s family will greet friends on Friday, April 15, 2022, 10:00 – 11:15 AM at Kain Murphy Funeral Services, 15 West End Ave., Haddonfield, NJ where his Memorial Service will follow at 11:30 AM.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Henry’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at the following link: https://www.stjude.org/
