George “Fred” Frederick Rexon, Sr.
On Nov. 28, 2018, age 94, lifelong Haddonfield resident and summer resident of Ocean City, NJ, Beloved husband of Charlotte (nee Baylis) and the late Arlene (nee Buohl); Loving father of Fred Rexon, Jr. (Ginny) of Haddonfield and Donna Brodner (Andy) of The Woodlands, TX; Cherished grandfather of Daniel, Elizabeth and Chad Rexon, Sean (Megan), Laura and Melanie Brodner. Treasured great grandfather of Ender Brodner and dear step-father of Joan Reinhold (Richard), George (Julie), William (Diane) and the late Arthur Koffenberger.
Fred graduated from Haddonfield Memorial HS, Class of 1941, and from Spring Garden Institute with a degree in engineering. Fred founded his machinery manufacturing business, Precision Automation Company, Inc. in Cherry Hill, NJ and Clarksville, IN. He was a past President and a longtime volunteer of The Haddon Fire Co. No. 1, an active member of the Haddonfield Ambulance Assoc. (Trustee, Vice Chair & Chairman), the Haddonfield United Methodist Church (Trustee & Property Chairman), Haddonfield Masonic Lodge #130 (32nd degree mason), the Shriner’s, the Rotary Club of Haddonfield and he served as a Trustee of the Haddonfield Civic Assoc. and the Haddonfield Foundation. Fred was Haddonfield’s Citizen of the Year in 1992 and twice was bestowed Ocean City’s Outstanding Community Performance Award for his community service. Fred was also a member of Tavistock & Seaview Country Clubs and the Ocean City Yacht Club (Past Commodore). Additionally, he raced speed boats and was the Jersey Speed Skiff national champion for 2 years (’58, ’59).
Fred’s family will receive friends on Friday, Dec. 7th, 9-10:45 AM in the sanctuary of the Haddonfield United Methodist Church, 29 Warwick Rd., Haddonfield, NJ 08033; where his Service will follow at 11 AM. Interment, Locustwood Cem., Cherry Hill, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in honor of Fred may be made to the Church at the above address or The Haddon Fire Co. No. 1, PO Box 345, Haddonfield, NJ 08033.
