Donald “Don” F. Miano

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Miano, who peacefully passed on Friday, January 24th at the age of 77 surrounded by family. A devoted husband, dedicated father, loving grandfather, and dear friend, Don’s legacy is one of humor, generosity, and the tenacity of the human spirit.
Born in West Virginia, Don’s family moved to Philadelphia where he attended Lincoln High School. He proudly served in the Army Engineer Corps, graduating Officer Candidate School as a First Lieutenant. Upon returning to civilian life, Don utilized the G.I. Bill to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Penn State University. Don spent the majority of his career as a landscape architect with Taylor Wiseman & Taylor in Mt. Laurel, and was a member of the American Organization of Landscape Architects.
Don was an avid tennis player, taking his talents to both the Haddon Field Club and Erlton Swim Club. He was a multifaceted man, as comfortable behind the lens of a camera as he was building decks and patios by hand. He was a lover of classic cars and a member of the Haddonfield 65 Club. However, most importantly Don was a man who cared about his family and friends. He coached his children in basketball and soccer, led masterclasses in body surfing on the beaches of Ocean City, and could throw a mean horseshoe. Those that knew and loved him will remember his quick wit, chivalrous nature, and unwavering integrity.
Don is survived by his wife Lorraine (nee Rosania), eldest daughter Gabrielle McKeever and husband Sean and their children Jack, Gavin, Julia, and Kylie, elder son Michael Miano and wife Julianna, and younger son Nicholas Miano and husband Chad. He was also the cherished brother of Nancy Leso (Joe), Barbara Corson (Pat), Paul Miano (Olga), and Janet Knesis (John) and dear brother-in-law of John Rosania (Cindy) and Laurence Rosania. Don is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Don’s family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, January 31, 2025, 9:15-10:45 AM, at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 204 Wayne Ave, Haddonfield, NJ; where his Service will follow at 11 AM. Interment, private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in honor of Don to help others with Parkinson’s, and sent to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, P.O. Box 5014 Hagerstown, MD 21741 or to Interfaith Caregivers, 20 Chestnut Street, First Floor, Haddonfield, NJ 08033.
