Betty was a graduate of Collegeville/Trappe HS (1945) and Ursinus College (1949), where she was a standout athlete in field hockey, basketball, and softball.  She was a Physical Education major and pursued a career in teaching at various schools including Holy Savior in Westmont NJ and Triton HS in Runnemede NJ.  Betty left her lasting mark at Audubon where she also met her husband.  It was at Audubon that she began the girls’ softball program in 1950 as well as coached the field hockey, basketball, and softball teams to outstanding records.  She left after only seven years taught a couple years at Triton then left all together to raise her family.  She returned to Audubon in the late seventies to begin a winning tradition once again, this time in field hockey and the start of the girls track program.  She was honored in so many ways including the South Jersey Fast Pitch Hall of Fame, Ursinus College Hall of Fame, the NJSCA Hall of Fame.  The track and field complex at Audubon High School was co-named after her.

Betty’s first love was George and her family.  A devoted mother, sister, aunt, and mom-mom she always put family first.  Always by her side was her husband George.  They enjoyed tennis, golf, swimming and traveling for years together.  She is preceded in death by her brothers Robert, Ken, George, Stanley and sisters Josephine, Catherine Clawson, and Dorothy Miller.  She is survived by her son Scott of Moorestown, daughter Bonnie (Paul) Horner of Tabernacle, 4 grandchildren Matthew, Jeffrey and Julie Horner and Tara Bolger, her brother James, and the many nieces, nephews, and friends she so loved.
